Product Details
Light and strong. A grade 5 titanium 1/4-28 non-serrated lug nut with a compact 7/16 in head, most commonly run on go karts and quarter midgets and suited to any application already turning a 1/4-28 wheel stud.
Grade 5 titanium is the reason to buy it: roughly half the density of steel with the strength to take everything a race wheel throws at a lug nut, and naturally corrosion resistant so it will not rust to the stud over a season. At 2.6 g each these cut nearly half the mass of the equivalent steel nut, and every gram comes off the rotating weight at the outer edge of the wheel where the engine feels it most on corner exit.
The smaller 7/16 head also carries a smaller flange, so there is less friction between the nut and the wheel face while you tighten. More of the torque you apply becomes real clamp load rather than being lost to drag, which is one of the main reasons studs let go.
