Retaining snap ring that holds the drive gear onto the clutch basket on Bully style go kart clutches used in outlaw kart, junior sprint, quarter midget and micro sprint racing.
The gear is under constant chain load trying to walk itself off the snout, and this ring is the only thing holding it there. A tired or spun ring lets the gear pull out mid-race, which usually takes the chain and the gear with it, so it is worth replacing any time the clutch is apart.

Make sure you have a #4-40 screw in your basket to keep the ring from rotating, since a spinning ring will let the gear pull out. Sold as a snap ring only. Drive gear, basket and clutch assembly are sold separately.
