It seats in the groove machined at the axle end and acts as a mechanical stop for the rear hub, so a hub that backs off during a race cannot walk its way off the axle. Standard fitment for outlaw kart, jr sprint and go kart rear ends running a 1.25 inch live axle.

This is cheap insurance on the most expensive failure in the rear end. Hub bolts and set screws work loose from vibration and hard cushion hits, and without a retaining ring the first thing you know about it is a wheel leaving the kart. A snap ring turns that into a rattle you can hear and fix in the pits instead of a wrecked axle, hub and corner.

Two snap rings are included with every one of our titanium axles — these are sold individually as spares or replacements. Requires a 1.25 inch axle with a machined snap ring groove; a pair of snap ring pliers makes installation much easier. This is a retaining ring only, not a bearing or bearing race.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1247/1741/files/rn-image_picker_lib_temp_aa8b71a7-14e0-41aa-bcf4-664f7232ab1f.jpg?v=1787602526
titanium-16-25-inch-mini-bike-axle
Titanium 16.25 Inch Mini Bike Axle

A 16.25 inch long, 1.25 inch diameter titanium rear axle built for mini bike drag racing. It uses the standard 1.25 inch hub and sprocket carrier hardware you already run, so it drops into a mini bike drag build in place of a steel or aluminum axle without changing bearings, hubs or carriers.

If you have already chased weight everywhere else, the rear axle is the last big piece of rotating mass left. Weight at the axle has to be accelerated and stopped every pass, so taking roughly a pound and a half out of the driveline shows up in sixty-foot times in a way that the same weight bolted to the frame never will. Titanium also gives you the fatigue life and corrosion resistance to leave it in the bike season after season.

This axle starts as a solid billet piece and is 100% machined inside and out. No tubing is used anywhere in it, because tubing is not always truly round — and an axle that is not round shows up as runout at the hub, sprocket and brake rotor.

Material: titanium

Length: 16.25 inches

Diameter: 1.25 inches

Wall thickness: 0.25 inch

Weight: approximately 1.95 lbs (885g)

Keyway: 1/4 x 3/16 inch, key slots on opposite sides of the axle, 8 inches long

Construction: 100% machined from billet, inside and out

One 6 inch length of 1/4 x 3/16 key stock is included. It runs the same 1.25 inch bearings, hubs, sprocket carriers and brake hardware you already have on the kart, so it is a straight swap for a steel or aluminum 32 inch axle on outlaw kart, jr sprint and open kart rear ends — no new carriers, no new bearing cassettes, no chassis changes.

The rear axle is the single largest piece of rotating mass on the kart, and rotating weight is not the same as static weight. Every ounce out at the axle has to be spun up out of every corner and slowed down again on entry, so the engine and the tires both feel it. Dropping to roughly 2.5 pounds of axle is one of the few changes that improves acceleration and braking at the same time without touching the engine package.

The feedback we get from customers is that the reduced rotating weight lets you cut stagger and drop 1 to 3 teeth of gear depending on the track and the kart — a lighter axle spins up quicker, so you can gear taller for corner exit and still carry the same drive off the corner. Less stagger with the same forward bite usually means a kart that is freer in the middle without getting loose on exit.

This axle starts life as a solid billet bar and is 100% machined inside and out. No tubing is used anywhere in it. Tubing is not always truly round, and any runout in the axle telegraphs straight through to the hubs, the sprocket and the brake rotor as wobble, uneven pad wear and chain slap. Machining the bore and the outside diameter in one setup keeps the wall thickness consistent and the axle straight under load.

Titanium also brings fatigue life and corrosion resistance that steel does not. It will not rust hubs and keys into place after a season of wet nights and pressure washing, which is what usually turns a routine rear end teardown into a fight.

Material: titanium

Length: 32 inches

Diameter: 1.25 inches

Weight: approximately 2.5 lbs (1179g)

Keyway: 1/4 x 3/16 inch

Construction: 100% machined from solid billet, inside and out — no tubing

One 6 inch length of 1/4 x 3/16 key stock is included with the axle.
