Product Details

A zinc plated steel 1/4-28 non-serrated lug nut with a compact 7/16 in head. It is most commonly run on go karts and quarter midgets, and it fits any application already using a 1/4-28 wheel stud.

The smaller head is the point. A 7/16 head carries a smaller flange than the standard 1/2 in nut, and less flange face means less friction dragging against the wheel as you tighten. More of your torque turns into real clamp load instead of being burned off as friction, which is a large part of why studs snap in the first place.

It also saves weight where weight costs you most. At 5 g each this nut is 3 g lighter than the 1/2 in head version, and that comes off the rotating mass at the outside of the wheel. Zinc plating keeps the rust off between race weekends.
